Mathematical modeling of surface deformation during vitrification

David Guirguis, CMU
Email:

The behavior of the cryoprotective agents changes from liquid to solid during vitrification. In this model, I solved the coupled problem of heat transfer and fluid flow problem during cryopreservation, while considering surface tension. The results are in good agreement with the cryomacroscopy experiments.

This is a multi-physics model I developed in a small project in October 2019 to model large surface deformation and residual stresses during cryopreservation by vitrification.
