Coil Group Box under Multi-Turn Coil

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

In axial-symmetric geometry I am simulating magnetic fields created from multiple multi-layer solenoids stacked on top of each other.

I am using the Multi-Turn Coil function, and had a question regarding the number of turns applied when checking the Coil Group Box.

Let's say I have the box checked, and I have 100 turns as my value for N. If I select 2 domains, will it simulate 100 coils in each domain or will it split the number in half?

Thank you!

Hi William,

If you have used Multi-Turn Coil domain used for two domains (for example, Domain 4 & Domain 5) with N=200, I =1[A] and Coil Group option checked, then COMSOL will treat these two domains connected in series (as Coil Group option is ON) and setup 200 turns for each of the Domains 4 and 5. In total, Domain 4 and Domain 5 will have 400 turns. Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Nirmal
