Problems syncing geometry using livelink for autocad

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I am trying to build a simple 3D model in Autocad (for simplicity's sake, assume a cube). However, objects can not be parametrized in 3D, so I am confused as to how I am supposed to access dimensions after a 3D object has been built in order to run parameter sweeps when I link it with COMSOL.

Is there a way to livelink a 2D drawing in COMSOL?

Thanks!

Hi Allison,

Instead of the solid objects you can create surfaces, for example extruded and planar surfaces. These can be parameterized by setting dimensions on the curves they are based on. The files for the tutorials you will find in the Application Library for LiveLink for AutoCAD have been created this way.
You can generate solid objects from the surfaces after synchronizing them with COMSOL Multiphysics.

Best regards,
Lorant

Hi Lorant,

Thank you for the response- this really helped! In terms of generating the solids in COMSOL, should I be using the cap faces tool or is there a better way to do this? I started running into some errors when trying to cap certain areas of more complex geometries.

Thanks,
Allison
