Material sintering

Dear users,

I am new in COMSOL and trying to simulate sintering process of PTFE billets. For this purpose I use heat transfer module and there should be a heat convection between air and billet on the other hand there is a heat conduction in the billet material. Additionally, ambient temperature is changing with time. (I define it by using interpolation from definitions) My questions are:

1) How can I construct the air environment for heat convection without drawing a separate shape for air material?
2) Which boundary condition should I use for this problem?

I would be very happy if you answer my questions.
