Where to find general examples of variables

Hello there!
I am trying to follow this example:
https://www.comsol.com/blogs/computing-porosity-and-permeability-in-porous-media-with-a-submodel/
I am having trouble as I don't know how to defind L or H(but I know they are the length and height of the rectangle one uses to subtract the domain out of).
Are there are any examples of variables posted online that I can learn from?
