Heat transfer in a fibrous structure exposed to a heat source

A fibrous structure exposed to a heat source is a multi-physics problem. Heat transfer within the structure happens in all three modes: conduction, convection, and radiation. The conduction happens along the longitudinal direction of fibers and also in the transverse direction between the fibers that are in contact with each other. Due to the heating, the chemically bound in-fiber or infra-fiber organic material undergo chemical reactions and triggers gas dynamics within the structures leading to convection of heat. Similarly, due to the temperature difference between the fibers, the radioactive heat transfer is triggered. Furthermore, the chemical reaction of the organic content is exothermic and behaves like an internal heat source for the heat-diffusion problem. The thermal, chemical and fluid dynamics problem need to be solved simultaneously as a coupled problem in order to accurately predict the temperature field.

Can comsol solve such problem ?

COMSOL is essentially a solver for differential equations, with a nice interface for it. If your problem can be cast as a (set of) differential equation(s), then it's likely COMSOL can do it.

As for your particular problem, all the physics you mention correspond to well-known PDE that COMSOL is meant to be used for. COMSOL even has specific modules to make your particular usecases more convenient, though these may not be necessary to you.
