setting values of stiffness(elasticity) matrix with external Matlab-function

I need to set the values of a stiffness matrix (the elasticity matrix D from strcutural mechanics module) with an external Matlab-function. This function is called 36 times because it is called for each of the fields of the 6x6 stiffness-matrix. It gets the coordinate-vectors x and y and the field indices of the corresponding field of matrix and gives back a certain value for that field.
This works but it seems not very efficient to me. Is there a smarter way to calculate and set the stiffness matrix at once?
Best regards,
Chris
