saving a variable while solving a time dependent problem

I would like to save the time as a variable when the temperature of the model reaches a certain point while it's solving.
exemple: if(T>const, t=var)
I would then use that variable as input in a "somekind of cooldown" function so that the amount of heat injected is reduced.
How can I do that?
Thanks
Alain
