UMFPACK in 4.2a

Hi.

When I use COMSOL 3.5, I use UMFPACK for steady state solver.

But I can not find that solver in 4.2a.

In 4.2a, MUMPS, Paradaiso, SPOOLS is that all.

Where is UMFPACK?

and I wonder the difference UMFPACK and other solvers.

I have the same question.

I used to use umfpack solver, and it works very well for most cases. Now I switch to new version and have convergence problem with some model, which seems convergent in 3.5a with umfpack solver.

Anyone knows?

Hello,

My main weapon is Pardiso though. I think even in 3.5a its more recommended thatn UMfpack. If im not mistaken, pardiso should be able to handle hermitian and symmetric matrices better and give faster solution time with less memory than umfpack
