Calculating field values at the center of every element

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am looking to calculate the mass flux (Normal velocity * Face area of a given surface) that enters every meshed element in my model in order to filter out dead zones/no flow zones in my porous flow model. When I export my velocity field data, it computes velocity values at all the nodes of the meshed elements. How do I obtain flux values associated with individual meshed elements? Is there an inbuilt method in COMSOL to do this? Or at least obtain velocity values at the face centers of each of the faces of the meshed elements?

Is there a way to compute the areas associated with the meshed elements generated in a 3D model. Somehow the documentation provided for meshing and the related statistics seems to be inadequate. Or am I not looking at the correct resources?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rohini
