Determination of two parameters in phase-field method

In phase-field method, mobility and interface thickness are main parameters. It is suggested that interface thickness=hmax/2, and mobility=((4/3/sqrt(2))(Umax/sigma). Whether the hmax and Umax is default? If not, how I determine the value of hmax and Umax?
