Modelling Semiconductors

I have used COMSOL in the past to model antennas so I was mainly working with the RF module.
I am now involved with different kind of physics. I would like to know if it is possible to model semiconductors (e.g. Silicon). What I mainly like to simulate is the movement of electrons and holes when the material is depleted and when it is excited.
In real life we look at the output from such material when it interacts with a radiative source or simply when a laser is focused on it. So is it also possible to specify a region on the model to inject particles that would excite the semiconductor material.
I hope this is clear. I would gladly elaborate more if needed.
Thanks in advance.
