Hi community,

I want to calculate acoustice absorption for porous strucuture, that too without using the JCA or any emperical / semi empirical models.

Is it possible to use Thermoviscous acoustic model to do the same?

Please share your valulable suggestions.

Hi Nagendra, If the absorption from your porous structure is due to thermoviscous boundary layer effects, then yes this can be modeled with the Thermoviscous Acoustics interface. This is a good assumption in the limit of rigid framed porous materials. This would require a detailed mesh of the porous material. You may also find the following reference helpful: https://asa.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1121/10.0001959 .
