Confine Modes

HI,

I am doing a structure eigen-mode analysis. How can I only see the longitudinal mode and filter out other modes?

Thank you

Hi,

It is not possible to directly filter the modes to get only those with a certain direction of the displacement. Usually, you can however look at a list of the modal participation factors, and there see which modes that predominantly move in e.g. the X-direction. This will relieve you of plotting all modes and visually inspect them.

You can also use the animation tool. It is possible to configure it so that each step in the animation is one mode. Then you can just drag the animation slider when browsing the modes. Do like this:

1. Display a mode shape.
2. Click the Player icon on the toolbar. You will now see an animation of that mode.
3. In the player settings, change 'Sequence type' to 'Stored solutions'.
4. Click the 'Generate frame' icon. You will now get one frame per eigenfrequency, and can browse them using the slider.

Regards,
Henrik
