Meshing 2-D and 3-D geometries with matching meshes

Hi!

I have a very expensive 3-D electro-chemistry problem which I am trying to simplify. The problem has fluid flow and electro-chemistry (tertiary current distribution) equations in it. I would like to solve the full 3-D model for just the flow equation. Then take a slice as shown in the figure and then use the resulting 2-D model to solve my tertiary current distribution equations in that 2-D slice using the fluid-flow data in the 2-D slice as the input.

I am using a swept mesh for my 3-D model. Is there someway to connect my 2-D and 3-D models so that my 3-D swept mesh matches my 2-D mesh?

Thanks!
Sri.
