Quick Question about Geometry

I am modelling permanent magnetic fields but the north and south pole is aligned in the z-direction. However I'm only interested in its effect on the x-y plane. Is there a way to do that in a 2D geometry? Since it seems i can only define the "north-south" poles of the magnet in the x or y direction in 2D.
Thank you.
Thank you.
