How to model 3D curved fibers?

The conventional method treats the nanofibers as rigid straight cylinders, which may lose accuracy in capturing the properties of nanofiber-reinforced composites (e.g., the thermal conductivity). Now I am trying to model the nanofibers as 3D curved cylinders, which are randomly distributed in a confined 3D space representing the cell element.
Though we have a COMSOL example (Anisotropic Heat Transfer Through Woven Carbon Fibers) available, the curved fiber is limited to a plane rather than a 3D space. My feeling is that using COMSOL with MATLAB may work, but don't have any idea about the starting. Anyone knows how to build the model using COMSOL or other CAD softwares? Or any suggestion?
