Analytical Method to Evaluate EMF Induced in Ionic Liquid by Magnetic Field
Published in 2015
Simplistic, 1D analytical calculations in electro-magneto-hydrodynamics are attractive to technologists and researchers given the computational resources and time required by 3 dimensional F.E. (Finite Element) tools. However, such analytical calculations need to be checked against 3D tools like COMSOL Multiphysics® which are more realistic. In this paper EMF induced in an ionic liquid flowing past a magnetic field was calculated using analytical expressions. The calculated EMF values were compared with values obtained from the COMSOL Multiphysics 3D model and found to be in reasonable agreement. Though 3D models are more realistic, ID calculations can be used for an initial and quick understanding of such processes.
