Composite Materials Modeling in COMSOL Multiphysics®

Duration: 43:17

Watch this archived webinar to see how to model layered composite structures, which are widely used in the manufacturing of aircraft and spacecraft components, wind turbine blades, and other structures.

We discuss two approaches that accurately model composite shells: layerwise theory and equivalent single layer theory. In addition to standard structural analyses (such as stationary, eigenfrequency, transient, and frequency domain), you will learn about performing micromechanical, first-ply failure, and linear buckling analyses. We also show how to include various physical phenomena, such as heat transfer and fluid flow, in a composite laminate model.
