How to implement a material with nonlinear Youngs Modulus?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I'm attempting to implement a solid with nonlinear Youngs Modulus, in particular a material that acts like a 'hardening spring'. I'm only interested in the mechanical properties of the solid.

My attempts so far yield the 'circular variable' error.

I'm running 64bit Comsol3.5a with ACDC/Acoustics/Material Lib.

Any suggestions/examples on how to implement a nonlinear material is very much appreciated.

S Moss

S Moss,
Did you have any luck implementing a nonlinear Young's modulus? I am trying to implement something similiar with a soil model. We are about to purchase the Structural Mechanics module which contains a few hyperelastic and elastoplastice models. You may want to look into those models for your problem.
