Cycle Stability Check in Time Dependent flow problem(CFD)

Hello, I'm working on a time dependent flow problem in a regenerator.

The flow is defined as

u=A*2*pi*f*sin(2*pi*f*t)

So we have a negative and a positive flow direction.

Now, I run ridiculous long simulations but in some cases it is not needed. I'm trying to compare each cycle to the next and if this hits the follow criteria:

if (max( u(x,t)-u(x,t-1/f) )<1e-4 during a whole period ) then stop the simulation.

I'm thinking of setting up a domain PDE with an event to stop the simulation but maybe there is an easier way.

kind regards,
Theo
