I'm working on a class project with comsol and we're running into snags because we're still learning the basic functions of comsol and unfortunately our local resources don't have the ability to help.

The project is a junction composed of 3 blocks connected end to end that are being acted on by joule heating over time. There are 2 issues that we're having in producing the data we're looking for.

1. Data exporting. We want to produce a series of data points, specifically highest temperature at each time interval, and use this data to form a basic graph of temp/time.

2. Geometry issues. We want to be able to vary the thickness of the resistive block in the center so we can see how the temperature profile changes with more or less resistive material. We thought to do this by using a parametric sweep, however we're unsure about how to define the thickness of that block as a parameter. Additionally the ends of the blocks aren't constrained together, so varying the thickness of that block would either create overlap or gaps between the other blocks, so we want to know how to "glue" them together.

The next part of our project involves integrating the semiconductor module and seeing how different dopants at different concentrations affect the same temperature profile, but this is enough to get us moving again.

All assets were built using comsol, not CAD programs We're using version 5.3a Can provide graphics of our current model for visual aid or details on the project itself.
