Arbitrary constitutive model

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to model a material with arbitrary constitutive relationship in the structural mechanics module. For example, if I want to model a material whose stress matrix depends on the strain matrix in an arbitrary way, how do I specify that dependence?

but isn't that the definition of an anisotropic material with a D tensor instead of scalar E and nu modulus

Thanks, Ivar. Yes, I can do that. But it would be simpler if I could model the material using a strain energy function. Do you think COMSOL allows us to write the constitutive equation in terms of a strain energy function?

check the doc for the different material properties, there are other than just the "linear elastic"
