Granular Flow

Hallo Everybody,
I try to simulate a granular Flow, like Sand running down in an hourglass. First I tried it with the mixture Model, because you have the dispersed phase and can simply enter the Grainsize and Volume fraction. But you also always have the fluid phase, which moves in the same direction with the same velocity (homogenious flow) or even faster (Hadamart-Rybczynski). So I used Fluid flow as explained in the paper by Zugliano, but its not sand'ish enough for me. Is it even possible to simulate a sand flow with COMSOL? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Lisa

Hello Lisa.

I had the same question. I sent an email to the center of support in Boston about the question. The answer was: in comsol can't simulate flow granular. However, comsol will have for a future near this application. But, the software ANSYS have the tool for simulate the granular flow.

Any updates on this? I am trying to model a similar scenario and was not sure if this is possible with COMSOL?
