Periodic Condition - Continuity

I have created a model which deposits particles in flow.
I want to utilise the periodic condition to return any particles that make it to the outlet back to the inlet. I am able to do this when I set a user defined velocity, however, when using the continuity function, the particles are re-inserted at random points in my model with no velocity.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the continuity function to re-insert the particles at the inlet and with the same velocity as they leave the outlet with.
