How to retrieve the calculated effective mode index using Matlab livelink?

I'm doing a mode analysis with the wave optice frequency domain module. I'd like to run the mph file through MATLAB as I will need to use the data for subsequent calculations in MATLAB. How do I retrieve the calculated effective mode index? What's the command/code I need to type in MATLAB?
