Detaching bubble - ALE moving mesh

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I modeling a growing bubble using ALE moving mesh in COMSOL. The bubble is pined at the surface, but at some point a neck is formed and the bubble detaches. I am aware of the limits for ALE moving mesh in such problems. But, I am interested in stopping the solution when the detachment is expected, save the solution at that point, reconstruct the bubble geometry not touching the wall and continue the solution from that point, using the copied solution from the previous step as an initial condition. Does general extrusion seems to be a useful tool in this procedure? I would appreciate comments on this problem.

Best regards, NP
