Could you help me about calculating Self-/ and mutual- inductance of twisted power cables ? In the tutorial I studied I could not find something about calculating the self-/ and mutual- inductance for the application of straight wires (3D model of a submarine cable). Referring to the post from 2013 stated by Walter Frey (Computing the Inductance of a Straight Wire | COMSOL Blog) one can not be sure if this model can calculate the values? Is a 2d-axis symmetric model (current flowing in a loop) potentially the better choice here ? The disadventage of the 2D model would be that „Twist“ is not taken into account.
