I am an first stage researcher in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. My research work involves numerical modeling of powder melting with laser beam as heat source.

A research by Tsai titled, "Selective laser melting of metal powders in additive manufacturing" carried out in COMSOL Multiphysics is a great source of motivation to further my research in this field. With a curiosity to learn the fundamentals, I tried reproducing the same model in COMSOL but faced following issues during simulation.

-Tracking the liquid/gas interface (level set method), -Unable to simulate the dynamics/deformation. I tried searching for various resources to address this issue, but in vain. It would of great if anyone could guide me in solving the problem. Looking forward to hearing from you
