Applying an electric potential to a nanoparticle

Hello.

I would like to know how can I simulate the effects of applying an electric potential to gold nanoparticles. Do I need to run a simulation using electrostatics, get the electron density and then use these results to build a new gold material model?

Thanks.

I'd like to bring to your attention our paper (https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.128.217401). I believe it is somewhat relevant to what you want to simulate.
