What are the effects of not using Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) in determining extinction spectrum of nanorods in COMSOL 6.2 (Optics)?

I don't know anything about determining extinction spectra of nanorods, but I am relatively confident that the answer to your question depends on the details of your model. Perhaps you should consider posting your .mph file. If your file is too large, see the link to "Learn how to reduce MPH-file size." Also, if you simply want to know the effects of different boundary conditions, you can always try out the different conditions and compare the results yourself. That will quite possibly tell you more than a mere guess from anyone on this forum.
