coupling coefficient of ring resonator

Hi all,

I am trying to calculate the coupling coefficient of ring resonator with a straight waveguide. I constructed the physical structure but still do not know how to apply the equation of coupling coefficient to get the value. i attached the equations.

Any help with that

It looks like you need to do an eigenmode simulation to find the ring mode and then a volume integral after writing out the components of the dot product. In other words, not easy although I believe it can be done within Comsol. Don't forget that the ring mode and waveguide modes will need appropriate normalization.

I wonder if there isn't an easier way? Maybe using incident and stored energies??
