Moving Mesh ALE - Applied to unconfined groundwater flow with unknown water table

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am trying to set up a model that was presented in the paper presented at the 2012 Conference in Milan: Simulation of Pumping Induced Groundwater Flow in Unconfined Aquifer Using Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian Method (found here: www.comsol.com/offers/conference2012papers/papers/file/id/13355/file/13713_jin_paper.pdf).

I am having trouble selecting the correct boundary conditions for the moving mesh module. I have tried both Prescribed Mesh Displacement and Prescribed Mesh Velocity BCs, but have not been successful. Currently, the top boundary (atmospheric condition: p=0) is not moving appropriately (see the paper). I have scoured the COMSOL site and model library for this example, but have not found anything.

Thanks in advance for any help!

David
