How to extrude the polygon?

Greetings

I want to get the solid object like at the attached picture (top view). To do this I have created a polygon (type - closed curve, data source - table). Now I am want to extrude this polygon but I cant do this due to I can't select this object. I tried to convert this curve to surface but it doesn't work either (after I press build all button my polygon disappears). What I am doing wrong? Thank you.

Hello.
I made a 3D geometry similar to what you desired using 4.0a. The dimensions might not be the exact one, but this one might give the idea on how to do it.
I made only two solid geometry. Then form them a union.
Good luck.

Jonathan
