Model welding process using deformed geometry?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi there,

I try to model a welding process using deformed geometry. I know that ANSYS can do element birth&death (or activate&deactivate) to model the adding of material (i.e. adding of calculating nodes). After searching through the help documents, forum, and model gallery, all I find is that I need to use the Deformed Geometry. However, after reading the manual, I still have no idea how to do this. I checked the sloshing-tank model in the model library. But the problem is that I need to add nodes and elements to the preceding geometry (like building a wall with bricks), which is quite different from the tutorial.

Could you please give me some tips? Models (2D or 3D) that uses this technique will just be beautiful. A trillion thanks in advance!

Best,
Ce
