measuring line displacement/deformation due to force

hi all,
i am doing a simulaton model to mimic epidermal ridges in finger epidermis. i also attached my model sample to illustrate what i'm doing. Foce will be applied to the top of protrusion.my question is, how am i going to calculate the length of the line before deformation and also the line legth after deformation..Please help..i've used the measurement tool under geometry but it seems that the line length after deformation cannot be obtain.
