frequency response

Hi,
please, can anybody help me to understand the graph "frequency response of the fundamental mode of the resonator" - you can find it in tutorials "Frequency Response of a Biased Resonator 2D/3D" or "Thickness shear Mode Quarz Oszillator".
If displacement field in z direction is time dependent, than it is simple. For each time point there is one displacement point, it is movement in time. But I don't understand displacement field in z direction frequency dependent. Because for each frequency I have up and down movement, but frequency dependent graph shows me only positive or negative values. How to understand this graph?
