Complex PDE and Lyapunov Exponents

I am solving a complex Ginzburg-Landau equation as a coupled system for the real and the complex part. This works well. As a next step I would like to compute the Lyapunov exponents (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyapunov_exponent) as a function of time, how could I do that?
