different values for V and dc.V in DC discharge model

I am using the DC discharge interface to model a 2D plasma problem. Can somebody tell me, what is the difference between the "V" and "dc.V" variable for the potential? When I plot the dc.V I get some constant value (this souldn't be constant), but when I look at just "V" I get a potential distribution as expected. The problem is that the ion current density uses the derivative of "dc.V" (d(dc.V,x)) and therefore becomes zero, this is not realistic. I computed the model in 1D, there "V" and "dc.V" is the same. What can I do to make dc.V equal to V in my 2D model?
