Geometrical Optics or Physical Optics(wave optics)?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear all.

The first question is that ,Does comsol have geometrical optics simulation?

I'm going to simulate a light guide simulation with a LED light bulb source. Both light guide and light source are in cm scale. the material of light guide is a kind of transparent polymer. the light guide is solid. the distance between light guide and LED is about 2-3 cm.
which method is useful for me? Geometrical Optics or Physical Optics(wave optics)? Is the COMSOL a useful tool for my purpose?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello,

I'm also interested in this topic. Did you already solved this problem? Which kind of module did you used? Geometrical Optics (ray tracing) or Physical Optics (wave optics)?

Kind regards,
Levin Dieterle
