Brownian motion

I try to simulate the Brownian movement of particles from one part of a domain to the second one in 2D. The parts are separated by the wall with a small opening of the size of 1 micrometre. Why Comsol is able to simulate the transitions of particles through such a gap even when they have diameters few times bigger than this opening?
