LED thermal simulation

I need your help. I'm in the middle of my bachelor's degree and one of my tasks is to simulate the thermal management of an LED or VCSEL. I measured their power with an intgerating sphere while a certain current and voltage was applied to the LED.
Now my question is, if I can simply substract the measured power from the electrical power to use as heating power?
