Acoustic-Structure Interaction with a Perfectly Matched Layer (PML)

This small tutorial model shows how to set up a model with a solid mechanics and a pressure acoustics domain including a common perfectly matched layer (PML). The PML is used to model an open or infinite domain for both the elastic waves and the pressure waves.

Three configurations of PMLs are described:

  1. One PML should be added when the PML region of two physics touches (described in the acoustic_structure_pml model).

  2. If the PML regions do not touch add two PMLs – one for each physics.

  3. Handling of a system with actuation through the PML region (described in the acoustic_structure_actuation_in_pml model).
