Permanent Magnet Motor in Steady State

Obtaining the steady-state performance is an essential task for the electric motor designer. As with many electromagnetic devices, the steady-state condition of an electric motor is when electric and magnetic field variations have stabilized to periodic variations. That is when variations in a given time period will repeat in subsequent time periods.

The Magnetic Machinery Time Periodic interface solves directly for the steady-state operation while fully including the effects of nonlinear materials and induced currents. In this tutorial a distributed wound interior permanent magnet machine is modelled to demonstrate the fundamentals of the time periodic interface.
